Scrapilicious Pineapple

Got Scraps?!!  Are your bins overflowing with leftover fabrics from other projects?  Want to use up some of your stash?  Learn to piece this classic Pineapple block with NO paper piecing and NO special ruler while using up your pile of scraps or busting your stash.

FABRICS:
Since this is a scrappy quilt, I can't give you an exact amount of fabrics that I used.  It all depends on the size of your quilt.  You may have only a small amount of scraps and decide to use what you have and make it smaller, or you may have barrels of scraps and make it bigger as large as a king sized quilt.  And if you don't have scraps or a stash or not enough of light fabrics or dark fabrics or certain color, well, there's always shopping!

However, I will give you a rough amount of what I used based on the sample quilt.  It is approximately 56" x 67-1/2".  There are 30 blocks and the blocks finished at 11-1/2".  I used roughly a total of 3 to 3-1/2 yards of light to medium light fabrics and a total of 4 to 5 yards of medium dark to dark fabrics that I cut into 1-1/2" strips.  The strips range from 3" long to the full width of fabric.  So start cutting your scraps into 1-1/2" strips, and separate them into lights and darks.  Tip- Press your fabrics with Best Press starch before cutting to stabilize your strips.  You will also need other fabrics, see below.

Based on the sample quilt, you will need:

~  (30) 2-1/2" RED squares for the Center of the block
~  (60) 2-1/2" squares of medium dark to dark fabrics
~  Lots of 1-1/2" strips of light to medium light fabrics  (See paragraph above)
~  Lots of 1-1/2" strips of medium dark to dark fabrics  (See paragraph above)
~  (60) 5" squares of medium dark to dark fabrics

Supplies:

~  Sewing machine in good working order with 1/4" foot or sewing an accurate 1/4" seam allowance.
~  Rotary cutter, mat, and rulers (long, small to larger square sizes)
~  Best Press starch
~  Thread for piecing
~  Scissors, pins, etc.
