Intermediate Quilting
This is the third class of learning to quilt with Rhonda.
This class is also great for those who already knows the basic of patchwork and adding borders, who wants to move to the next level.
In this class, you will learn to set your blocks on point and fusible applique. We also will review making half square triangles. Plus, Rhonda will show you how to do miter borders.
Supply list for Intermediate Quilting w/Rhonda
Lap: Approximately 57" x 69"
PATTERN: Breezy Pinwheels
FABRIC REQUIREMENTS:
~ 1 Layer Cake (10" pre-cuts package) ~
From this Layer Cake, we will use it to make Pinwheel blocks, Alternating blocks, and Appliques (flowers) Center Block.
NOTE: If you don't want to use a Layer Cake, you may cut your own squares from yardage. You will need: 1) For Pinwheel blocks: 7/8 yard each of pinwheel fabric and background fabric. 2) For Alternating blocks: 3/4 yard. 3) For Appliques Block: 1FQ for background and Four 10" squares of different colors for leaves, flowers, flower centers.
~ 1 Fat Quarter for Stems (flowers) ~
~ 1/3 yard for applique block frame and inner border ~
~ 1 yard for setting and corner triangles ~
~ 2 yards for outer border ~
~ 1/2 yard for binding ~
~ 4 yards for backing ~
Other Supplies:
~ Threads for piecing and Matching appliques
~ 1 yard Steam-A-Seam 2
~ Fabric marking pen such as Frixion Pen
~ Applique Pressing Sheet
~ Open Toe Foot/Applique Foot/Freemotion Embroidery Foot for your sewing machine. This foot will give you a clear view while stitching your appliques.
~ Fine permanent marking pen
~ Square Up ruler (optional but very helpful)
~ Sharp Scissor
~ Portable Design Board - I use flannel backed vinyl tablecloth - large enough for a lap size quilt - Or large piece of batting or flannel.
BASIC SEWING SUPPLIES:
~ Sewing machine in good working order. Foot pedal, cord, etc.
~ Rotary cutter and small mat (about 12" square) or swivel/rotating mat. This is for squaring up your blocks. It's a lot easier to do with a smaller or rotating mat.
~ Long ruler and square ruler (8-1/2" or larger) or Square Up Ruler
~ Scissor, Pins, Seam Ripper, etc.
BEFORE CLASS PREPARATION:
If you are using a Layer Cake, there is NO cutting before class.
If you are using yardage cut, please cut as follow:

~ Nine 10" squares of pinwheel fabric
~ Nine 10" squares of background fabric
2) For Alternating Blocks:
~ Ten 8 1/2" X 8 1/2" squares
